Air Box
(1) Removal of lower left stud is required to increase clearance.
(2) We used a box end wrench & a 3lbs hammer to remove nut without breaking the plastic retainer walls inside. One quick solid strike should do the trick!
NOTE: Impact gun works well!
As you can see from the photo below the Nisei nutsert & button head increases clearance by approximately 1/4"-3/8"

Upper I/C Pipe
(1) Install the hose at an angle using your fingers to stretch the hose from the inside over the T/B.
(2) Once hose is over the edge of the T/B. Press hose on to the T/B until it bottoms out on the stoppers.
Should look like this after hose has been installed.
(4) Completely remove the nut from the 3" T-bolt. Then slide the T-bolt clamp over the T/B hose.
NOTE: There is only 1 pc of the 3" T-bolt clamp provided in kit.
(5) Squeeze the ends of the T-bolt clamp together and finger tighten the nut back onto the clamp.
(6) Tighten T-bolt on T/B hose as shown in photo.
(7) Once T-bolt has been secured, slide a 2.88" T-bolt over the lower half of the upper I/C pipe.
(8) Then slide the hump hose about 3/4" on to pipe.
(9) Tighten clamp so when installing the lower pipe section to the hump hose it will not move/slide up and down.
(10) Now that the hump hose is secure, use another 2.88" T-bolt on to the T/B hose.
(11) Then insert upper pipe into the T/B hose. Do not tighten T-bolt.
(12) Slide another 2.88" T-bolt over the lower half of the pipe before installing it on to the hump hose.
(13) After lower half has been connected to the FMIC outlet & hump hose. Use one of the 8mm X 20mm bolts with washer and begin threading the lower bracket on. Do NOT tighten all the way.
NOTE : Leave ALL remaining T-bolt clamps loose until piping alignment has been checked.
BOV Extension Hose
(1) Insert extension adapter into extension hose.
(2) Slide both clamps (provided in kit) over the hose.
(3) Then attached the OEM BOV hose to the Aluminum adapter and tighten clamps.
(4) Slide the OEM clamps over each end of the BOV extension hose.
(5) Then attach the BOV.
(6) Now insert & align assembly to fit into the suction hose and upper pipe.
(7) Once aligned tighten clamps on BOV.
Checking Alignment
Once you have check for clearance you can proceed to tighten the T-bolts on the pipe kit.
NOTE: After you tighten each T-bolt clamp check the clearance and make adjustments to pipes AS NEEDED.
NOTE: Some vehicles may need to shim air box up with washers in order to create more clearance between button head and upper pipe. Shims are placed under the rubber grommet and spacer to lift air box up.
The last 3 vehicles we installed pipe kit on were all different. 1st car required zero shims, 2nd needed 2 shims, and 3rd needed 4 shim plates.
LATEST UPDATE!
6/22/06 - Regarding Shim/Spacer: Found a different solution to increase space between the air box and upper pipe. Instead of using the washers under the mounting tabs.
The shim adapter slips over the alignment pin for the air box.
Make sure the rubber bushing is attached to the air box and reinstall.
For those guys who have purchased the kit before 6/1/06. If you need more space between the factory air box and our upper pipe. Call me with your info so we can get you a new shim. |
