Recently, I came across some old photos we had and decided to put them up for your viewing. Since many of you have not seen side by side photos of the Evo 8/9 pipes "Stock vs Nisei Engineering" to compare. Here is the breakdown... enjoy!

LICP - As you can clearly see the difference between the Stock & Nisei Engineering.

* Reduction Of Bends.

* Diameter Difference - Stock starts small and transitions. Nisei Engineering is a consistent 2.5" diameter.

* Note: For each bend an additional length of straight pipe is required to form the bend. As the mandrel bender is bending the pipe, the pipe is required to stretch in order to complete the degree of bend. So measuring a bend to calculate what legnth a pipe originally was...is slightly different from taking out a tape measure and going from edge to edge. Example - If you were to measure a "straight" piece of pipe you would simply take a tape measure, and measure the pipe from edge to edge. So if the distance was 6" then your pipe is actually 6" in length. Now, on the other hand if you were to measure a pipe say having 120* bend angle. It's not as simple as conducting an "edge to edge" measure. One way we do it is to take DOBx3.14xCLR/180 which, if we were to take the example of 120* degree bend and our tooling spec's. The 120* degree bend would require an additional straight piece of 8.733" plus the straight legs for the bead roll, room for the hose, and clamps.

Below we have the "upper half" of the UICP's side by side.

Here is a profile view of how the stock upper half of the UICP look as it's installed. You can really see how much the stock pipe arches up and over.

You can get a visual of how close the stock pipe rides near the valve cover and up and over the intake/suction pipe.

Nisei Engineering pipe routes towards the fender and goes underneath the intake/suction pipe.

Overall view and better angle of the stock pipe going over the intake/suction pipe.

Better view of the Nisei Engineering pipe going under the intake/suction pipe.

Below we have several views of the stock & Nisei Engineering lower half portion of the UICP.

* Difference in length.

* Reduced number of bends.

Next we have a overall view of the UICP installed from the Throttle Body to the outlet of the FMIC. You can see how the stock pipe rises up to the chassis brace then back down. If you know what your piping looks like then you can imagine it going over the intake/suction pipe, heading towards the radiator, then towards the drivers side fender before connecting to the "lower half" of the UICP. Then down, out, and around to the FMIC.

As you can see we were very lazy and took the short cut!!! You can almost see how our 2 pipes are connected. Simple, Clean and Direct!

Side by Side of the routing difference.

Hope this answers some of the questions of what the differences are between stock & Nisei Engineering Evo 8/9 pipes. Lastly, the answer is ABSOLUTELY YES!!! The pipe kit you receive will look much better on your car.
